Healing and Transformation: Weaving Ancestral Wisdom with Contemporary Healing Modalities

Session Description:
The Tsm’syen peoples of the Northwest Coast of British Columbia live by the Ayaawx (ancestral law), a living system of teachings expressed through social process, sacred stories, protocol, and relationship between human, land, to Supernatural and most powerfully experienced in Potlatch.
This offers an overview of Ayaawx as guidance for daily living, including cleansing practices and teachings on soul loss and soul retrieval. It weaves ancestral wisdom with contemporary healing modalities such as neurofeedback, Deep Brain Reorienting, and Somatic Experiencing for addressing PTSD, and includes practical self-regulation exercises that cultivate internal calm and embodied resilience.
Rooted in the Ayaawx. The ancestral law of the Tsm’syen peoples of the Northwest Coast. This offering explores sacred protocol, story, and the right relationship between human beings, the land, and the Supernatural. Teachings on cleansing, soul loss, and soul retrieval are woven with contemporary healing approaches including neurofeedback, Deep Brain Reorienting, and Somatic Experiencing for PTSD. Participants will also learn practical self-regulation practices that support internal calm and embodied balance.

About the Teacher:
Dr. Patricia June Vickers is an internationally respected leader in the field of trauma research and programming, specifically for Indigenous peoples. She is a teacher, artist, psychotherapist and spiritual director. Her approach to all services comes from the Northwest Coast Feast Hall, Buddhist teachings, and the teachings of Christ and is founded on relationship with self, the Supernatural and others. Her methodology is grounded in the primary need to be heard and understood without judgement–respect for others and self. Vickers’ cultural heritage weaves ancestry from the United Kingdom, Ts’msyen and Heiltsuk nations. She belongs to the Eagle clan from the village of Gitxaala, British Columbia and carries two feast hall names from her village and from the Nuxalk in Bella Coola, British Columbia. She continues her studies of spiritual transformation, healing trauma, awakening, forgiveness and unearthing layers to find the authentic self.
Patricia June Vickers, PhD was born into the Eagle Clan with Indigenous – Haida, Heiltsuk, and Ts’msyen – and British ancestry. Her scholarship and healing path have been shaped by the influences and echoes of both worlds. Patricia lives in Coast Salish territory–North Vancouver, British Columbia, where she is the owner of Indigenous Mental Health healing services, Raven’s Call (Enterprises) Canada Inc.
